Mehmood Nurmohamed

Principal Firmware Engineer

Mehmood Nurmohamed's journey from the classrooms of the University of Calgary, where he pursued Electrical Engineering, to the forefront of the firmware domain, is one of unwavering dedication to his craft. In between clockwork and code, Mehmood navigated the ebbs and flows of his career, consistently steering it towards excellence.

Growing up, Mehmood always held a fascination for the inner workings of things. An avid watch enthusiast, he found delight in restoring watches, understanding their intricacies, and then selling them to watch aficionados like himself. This same meticulous attention to detail and curiosity for how things work transitioned into his professional life as a firmware engineer. Today, instead of watches, he deals with development boards from giants like Nordic and STMicroelectronics.

His academic prowess didn't just stop after Calgary. Mehmood further honed his expertise with a certificate in Real-time Embedded Systems Design and Development from the University of Washington. This decision stemmed from his insatiable desire to dive deeper into the world of tech and produce top-tier work that would make an indelible mark in the industry.

His tenure at Particle as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer set the stage for his commendable skills. During this period, he seamlessly integrated firmware that facilitated asset tracking and device control via cloud interfaces. It was here that he also learned the importance of agility in development and dexterity in handling modern tools like Git for CI/CD.

Embedded in his ethos is a principle to align himself with companies that promote well-being, steering clear of any that might harm people or animals. He believes in the potency of constructive criticism and has an unwavering focus on ensuring top-notch quality in his deliverables.

Now, as Ribbiot's Principal Firmware Engineer, Mehmood is steering the design and implementation of firmware for the Qorvo-based tracker device, a state-of-the-art solution promising to revolutionize asset tracking in the construction realm. His excitement about Ribbiot isn't just about the tech—it's about the potential of making industries efficient and streamlined.
